2025 - Glazed Ceramics on Canvas94 x 97 cm
Originally conceived with the concept of “white passing,” this work explores themes of identity and bias within my practice. It comprises over 1,600 individually hand-cast, fired, and glazed ceramic bubbles, arranged in a beehive pattern on canvas. Cast from bubble wrap, these ceramic forms symbolise the desire for recognition beyond surface appearances.
The piece alludes to the tension between the longing to be pressed, to be asked, seen, and understood for who we truly are, and the need for a platform to express the rich and complex tapestry of identity. I hope this work invites viewers to reflect on their own assumptions and the unseen realities that shape our experiences and sense of self.
